I am an artist with a profound fascination for masks and masking. Sparked by an interest in humans, their behavior, and communication through facial expressions, emotions and body language. I cover essential parts of the body to play with the limits of where the body ends and the 'other' begins, to create a representation of a new being. Creating tension between body and material. Practiced by raising fundamental questions about the world we live in and speculate about the future.
My work is best described as autonomous and shows a fascination for techniques, structures, patterns and movement. Most of my projects start quite impulsively due to a certain curiosity or trigger of how to explore beyond boundaries or from different perspectives. By diving into a project with a hands-on approach, I focus on experimentation and reflection.
The mediums that are consulted to find my answers mainly vary from ceramics to textiles. Using photography and film to capture and accentuate my work. A choice that is always driven by intuition and spontaneity.
