Throughout the years I have been fascinated by us creatures. How do we act? How do we react? How do we differ? How do we express ourselves? These fundamental questions have led me to body transformation/manipulation experiments, deep dive researches into behavioral patterns, especially of serial killers, given me an understanding of psychology and psychiatry. Constantly discussing the Nature VS Nurture question.

All these topics bring me back to the fact that if you take the time to look and analyse a face or a body you will get the chance to explore someone. Looking at their (facial) expressions, body language and behaviour. Getting an understanding of how someone portraits themselves and how someone is perceived.
RUT
In 2019 I had a severe concussion. In the beginning light, sound and unexpected actions triggered anxiety and physical pain. I had temporally become over sensitive to my surroundings. Not knowing if the concussion would leave permanent damage. Standing and walking made me dizzy and unwell. Thinking and intercommunication made me realise how slow I was in processing information, and sometimes I did not understand it at all.

Near the end of my recovery I decided to visualise the internal feeling I had during my concussion. I used stockings and plastic fillings to create tentacles. The tentacles portrait the feeling of slow-processing, alienation from your own body and powerlessness.
LIGHT & BODY

For the project ’Textile Industry’ I researched and experimented with certain lighting and the body. How can I create a dramatic feeling while looking at an image? I used contrast, movement and a specific harsh lighting.

FACIAL ADAPTIONS
It is quite easy to change a face or a feeling you get, looking at a face, by adapting the face with a material. By using a material to manipulate/transform the face I experimented with how different ways and shapes interact with the face and the feeling it leaves you with.
