Expressions are tools to make one’s thoughts or feelings known and to convey a particular emotion. Challenged by a desire to test the boundaries of expression through abstraction and mask making, I explore how I can still evoke emotion and recognition by experimenting with color, shape, texture, pattern, and perception. Each mask carries a personal imprint of my face on the inside, while the outer form becomes an abstract expression—both concealing and revealing at once. The result is an ongoing material and conceptual research into how we express, disguise, and reimagine the self.
